Queenstown sits on the shore of Lake Wakatipu beneath the Remarkables, and it's where commercial bungy jumping began, at the Kawarau Bridge. Add jet boating on the Shotover River, skydiving, mountain biking and alpine hikes in summer, and four ski fields within reach in winter. Milford Sound is a long but unforgettable day trip.
