Boracay is a small island in the central Philippines, only seven kilometres long, with one of the world's most famous beaches. White Beach runs for about four kilometres of powder-fine sand, and at sunset the sky fills with the sails of paraw, traditional outrigger boats you can hire for an evening cruise. On the far side of the island, Bulabog Beach is a kitesurfing spot from November to April.

Flights to Caticlan, with a short boat across, are the largest cost, at A$1,686 for two. A$732 covers a comfortable room for seven nights, and A$682 covers meals and day-to-day spending. Staying a short walk back from the beach, rather than on the sand, makes the room go further.
